Combinations of silver, silver-silver chloride, carbon, and dielectric inks printed on thin film polyester are used to make biosensors such as EKG/ECG electrodes, glucose test strips, and drug delivery pads.
Combinations of silver, silver-silver chloride, carbon, and dielectric inks printed on thin film polyester are used to make biosensors such as EKG/ECG electrodes, glucose test strips, and drug delivery pads. Biosensors work with a biological component called a bio-sensor, which is placed on a substrate and can convert a certain biological interaction that occurs between the biological component and the batter into a signal that can be monitored and quantified. Electrodes and biosensors are complex and sensitive devices that necessitate sophisticated quality assurance methods and statistical process control.
Printed electrodes are frequently employed in medical equipment, which is a highly regulated and quality-driven business with a variety of design and production constraints. Printed electronics provide total reliability, as well as patient comfort, reduced invasiveness, and the capacity to be disposable in medical electronic products. The potential to provide remote diagnostics in a cost-effective manner is encouraging the medical industry to develop more printed electronics-based solutions.
